Quick guide
Before you borrow the e-bike, please read this quick guide.
Tips for using the e-bike
1. Get familiar with the e-bike
Start riding your e-bike in a quiet and calm area so you can get to know the bike without being disturbed by traffic. With an e-bike, it can feel like you're learning how to ride from scratch because starting and stopping on an e-bike feels different and there's more speed.
2. Be aware of how fast you're going
On an e-bike, it's easy to pick up speed, and the higher speed can surprise both you and your fellow road users. So pay extra attention to your speed and adapt your speed to other cyclists when riding in the city.
3. Pay extra attention
Motorists may also have a hard time seeing you coming on an e-bike, so they don't realize that you're coming at a higher speed than a non-electric cyclist. They may therefore think that they can pass you or turn before you arrive on your bike. So pay extra attention to drivers.
And if you haven't cycled for a long time, you may not be used to orienting yourself as a cyclist, so pay extra attention.
4. Use both brakes when you want to stop
When you need to stop, it's a good idea to use both brakes. It's best for the bike.
5. Slow down when turning and remember to signal
Remember that you must obey traffic laws when riding an e-bike. Therefore, signal when you want to stop or turn. When turning, it's also a good idea to slow down and pedal carefully when picking up speed so you don't fall over or get surprised by how fast you pick up speed.
Also, signal with the bell before overtaking other cyclists so they know you're coming. It can surprise many people when an e-bike comes whizzing past.
Remember to lock your bike securely
It's also important that you lock your bike securely. Here's why:
- Lock the bike with the attached lock.
- Lock the bike with the chain lock to something that cannot be moved.
- Do not leave the bike overnight at a station or bus stop.
